As a newly formed chapter and board of directors, our goal is to make the chapter as meaningful as possible to its members.  To this end, the Great Lakes Chapter will strive to become a Model Chapter within NDIA. 

The model chapter program was established in 2001 in efforts to promote the continuing relationship and open communication between National and its fifty-two chapters. The program recognizes the importance and necessity of the chapter structure as created by the many volunteers who offer their time and support to meet the goals and mission under the NDIA flag within the local community.

We have formed the below committees as part of our efforts to gain Model Chapter status by the end of our fiscal year 2010.

Committtees

Events
Sponsor quarterly events throughout the region showcasing NDIA, the industrial base and national security interest with an eye to participation and interest for the entire chapter membership.

Membership
Develop members accross industries including government, private industry and acedamia (membership promotion – both corporate and individual).

Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics Workforce Program (STEM)
Provide a forum for effective interaction between local government, industry, and academia for the strengthening of the national security and sponsor scholarship program.

Small Business
As an extension of the National Small Business Division, focus specifically on issues impacting small business with interest in enhancing small business participation in the federal market place.

Legislative/Regional
Discuss NDIA Top Issues and Chapter (regional) concerns, meet annually with local politicians, business and service representatives to emphasize national security and the defense industrial base.
